The Brazilian squad cleared the do-or-die series decisively to advance to the final Swiss stage at the Major.
Legacy did what their paiN and MIBR countrymen couldn't, securing a spot in the third stage of the IEM Cologne Major. To get there, they beat TYLOO in the deciding round of Stage 2.
Legacy and TYLOO had faced each other less than one month earlier at the CS Asia Championship, where the result was the same, though the Brazilians needed overtime on both maps in Shanghai. This time, they cruised to a 13-7 win on Mirage and a 13-4 victory on Inferno.
TYLOO struck first on Mirage, winning the opening pistol round and taking a 3-0 lead, but Legacy responded quickly and showed why it was their map pick. The Chinese side struggled to keep up on defense, adding just one more round before halftime.
Down 4-8, TYLOO won the second pistol round, but they could only find three more rounds before the guns came out. Legacy then chained together five clean rounds to close Mirage 13-7. Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer led the way with a +8.49% swing and a 1.89 rating.
The series moved to Inferno, where Legacy opened the map by winning the crucial CT-side pistol round. Andrei "arT" Piovezan and his teammates dominated just as they had on Mirage, only this time they were even stronger, building a ten-round half.
With their backs against the wall, TYLOO's Dongkai "Jee" Ji and Su "Zero" Jingshen combined for all five frags in the second pistol round, but it was too little too late. Legacy regained control two rounds later and closed the map 13-4.
Guilherme "saadzin" Pacheco, who opened the map with a 1v2 clutch and ended the first half with a triple, finished as the highest-rated player on Inferno with a +12.86% swing and a 2.05 rating.
Across both maps, however, it was neither dumau nor saadzin who topped the server. Bruno "latto" Rebelatto's quiet consistency earned him a match-high 1.57 rating in the decider.
